Games
With Kelly Sash, as seen in Main Street Magazine
Christmas it seems is synonymous with games. It is the time when family members gather and enjoy the pure thrill of gaming- be it the new ‘must have’ games for your favourite system, on line games for fun, or traditional board games. Games and Christmas just seem to go hand-in-hand!
If you are looking for some fresh ideas to keep the children happy over the holiday season this year, I highly recommend you check out the Funschool Website. (http://funschool.kaboose.com/fun-blaster/christmas/index.html )
Or, if you are not sure what games that your family of gamers are wanting, I recommend you ask. I have included an Xbox list below, but chances are your gamers (from teenager to spouse) already has a favourite in mind and is on their Christmas list already.
Here are some of the main Xbox games talked about, there is a variety of styles and levels of difficulty included. Any of these games can be enjoyed by old pro's or beginners.
1. Grand Theft Auto Double Pack : For the price of one game, you get both Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City together. Both GTA games give players some of the best racing and action game play available. This is an Xbox classic.
2. Need For Speed: Most Wanted : Take a unique, fast-paced ride in Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Build up your Rap Sheet to become the most wanted street racer. Drive head-to-head against top drivers while evading cops. A great racing Xbox game.
3. Halo: Combat Evolved : This game is story-driven, includes science fiction, and keeps the action level high. Halo has elaborate scenes as well as a ton of pure blasting action. This first-person shooter game is the standard by which all other first-person shooters are measured.
4. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Knights of the Old Republic allows gamers to choose whether to walk the Dark or the Light side. This game mixes real-time and turn-based combat, and features tons of realistic dialogue of the Star Wars genre.
5. NBA Street V3 : This is a fresh and challenging basketball game, featuring players from the fictional Street Legends team and real NBA players. The single-player game is rich but the multi-player game is even better, more complex and sophisticated.
6. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge : This air combat game features tons of shooting action, a deep storyline, and online competition. The reward system provides a bunch of fresh airplanes opponents to add challenge.
7. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time : If you or your child enjoy artistic style and texture, you'll find this game a beautiful achievement in animation, and a masterful blend of platform, action and adventure genres that players will enjoy.
8. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: This shooter game holds many gamers into its addictive web and keeps them playing late into the night. With plenty of game maps and new ones still being released, there's still plenty to discover after the initial game time.
9. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow: Players choose to be either Spies or Mercenaries. Each group comes with different moves, equipment, and objectives. The Spies play in third-person while the Mercenaries play from a realistic first-person view.
10. Project Gotham Racing 2: Provides amazing racing detail in various city streets where you can speed away in over 200 different cars. The scoring system allows drivers to earn points off slides, catching air, and passing opponents. Learn to drive cool.
No matter what games you choose, the best games are always the one that you can share- family Christmas ‘gaming’ time can become a new awesome tradition in any family.
Happy Holidays everyone!

At My Window with a Broken Wing
At My Window with a Broken Wing
Author Ric Wasley
It was a warm afternoon in late October of 1966 when our van pulled onto the main campus of Ohio State.
It had rained the night before, and leaves still plastered the edges of the road leading to the main campus. I rolled down the van’s passenger window all the way and took a deep breath. Yeah, there it was—the ‘fall’ smell. That smell of leaves mixed with old grass clippings and new hopes. Summer romances had faded away, and new college romances were just beginning. Everyone was psyched for something. It was a time of meeting, flirting, and leaning back against a big oak tree with a soft cheek next to yours.

It was a time for talking and laughing for hours about nothing.
We were due to play a concert on the ‘big event’ stage tonight but since we were just an opening band for the big draw names, we didn’t rate space on the tour bus. But that was okay. Our manager/agent/record producer, Marty, had filled out our down time with a gig at some mixer in the student union, followed by the big deal concert where our main job was to “warm up the crowd” and get them out of their seats before the big name bands came on. And to make the hundred mile trek from the University of Kentucky to OSU worth our “valuable time” (and Marty’s investment in gas money for the van), he had filled out the remainder of this fall Saturday night with a “Kegger” at the SAE house. Whatever. The money was decent, and the beer was free. And best of all, according to our perpetually sloshed and eternally horny lead guitar player, Fritz, OSU had a “babe” rating of 8.5 according to the latest college campus poll in Playboy, Esquire, or whatever fantasy magazine Fritz currently had stuffed in his sleeping bag in the back of Marty’s band bus.
The van slowed to a stop as the main road split into two forks.
“Which way, Marty?” drawled Bear, our big bearded bass player from the hills of
Hazard County.
Marty mumbled something and peered myopically at a Xeroxed map of the OSU
Campus. He stroked one of his double chins, trying to translate the smudged black
squiggles on the map into the massive stone buildings in front of us.
I leaned over and gently took the map out of Marty’s hand. I turned it around and
handed it back to him. “You’ve got it upside down, Marty.”
He gave me a dirty look as if he’d known that the whole the time and was only testing
us. He laid it out on the van dashboard and stared at a complex of buildings just ahead
of us. Suddenly, he smiled and pointed. “There!” he said triumphantly.
A small signboard stuck in the ground next to a large gray building read: STUDENT
CENTER.
We had arrived.

The Coffee Ritual
The Coffee Ritual
T. Rivers
It seems that making coffee at home before going to work has become obsolete, now the habit of climbing into your vehicle and ‘willingly’ putting yourself in yet another line up, after all the bank, the grocery store and so many others are not enough-- no, no, we risk the morning traffic, with so many happy morning people (smiles- okay not!) and the smells of exhaust “on purpose!”
I smile really when some of my associates tell me that they do not have the time to make coffee in the morning anymore. I am thinking, no, the time apparently is better spent being aggravated going through a drive thru line up at the nearest coffee house, drinking out of a plastic coated cup that adds to the already over crowed landfills. (What a cute name for a ‘dump’ do you not think? Like calling it a land fill makes it less than what it is—but that is another story!)
Another time I was told that the mornings are too hectic with the kids, and they need five minutes of peace. Peace? Angry faces, horns honking, over worked under paid staff greeting everyone in a glass box, hand out-- grab your coffee, hand out-- take your money, words exchanged-- “have a nice day-next!” Personally I would take the screaming of the kids, the ones in whom you love, over the hollow exchange of a stranger any day!
My idea of a great coffee is brewing a pot; a blend I have chosen, in a real cup, and I make enough so that I can fill a travel mug to go. (Another inch of land saved from garbage. And make no mistake, no matter what they want you to believe with the great show of recycling bins in the store, they are not recyclable!) Than, I look outside and breathe in the weather, be it sun or snow, it is part of the cycle of life and I embrace it, through the window I watch-- is there a squirrel? A bird? I listen to the sounds of my home, be it grumblings, or laughter, those sounds belong to me, they are my family, and that fills my heart with love.
However, this ritual, for so many is replaced with; “hurry up.’ Hurry up and get me to a job I hate, hurry up and get me back home to chores I detest, hurry up to get me to the next item on the have-to-do today list- just hurry up. When did we lose the gift of loving the simple things in life? When did we choose to replace it with this tense cycle of frustration and misery?
I love the smell of coffee, the aroma lifting from the cup in your hands, or filling the house when it is brewing. I love to grind coffee beans, and the fresh scent hits you and you are now excited about tasting the coffee, will it be as great as it smells? That first taste, mmmm, yes it is as good.
When I drive by the coffee shops with the line ups sometimes out to the highway, I pick up my travel mug and smile. Sometimes simple pleasures are the best of life’s pleasures!

2009 Women’s Business Awards
Tilly Rivers has been named the Entrepreneur of the Year!
Journalist; Tom Fellows
NY- It has been a great pleasure of mine to follow the career of Tilly Rivers. This lady is a role model for women of all ages, her zest for life is captured in any and all projects that she does. Let’s take a look at her career path.In the beginning she started out doing free lance shorts for popular ‘adult’ magazines, soon her following grew and she wrote her first anthology “Seditious.”
The book published by the Random House Group received modest reviews and success. Her next group of erotica shorts titled “Salacious” hit the #1 best selling list fourteen days after its release.
Rivers daringly modeled in a few risqué adult magazines while dating a male model, while these photos are nudes she kept them tasteful and suggestive. She was also chosen in a few fashion shots, and of course has had many publicity photo shoots spanning her career. Her name soon became part of the celebrity list and the ‘who’s who’ of the celebrity world as the best selling author of erotic prose Salacious and Wisteria Moon.
Last year Tilly won the; "2007-08 Sexiest Radio Voice Award” for her new internet radio programs "Features,” and “Let’s Talk About It.” Her radio host career was fun, but short as she decided to focus on her roots. Writing.
Rivers opened her own publishing company for awhile, but decided the stress was too much taking a toll on her health, the company closed in April of 2008. Today Rivers is the CEO and founder of Rain Enterprises. Rain Enterprises has the most talked about adult dessert line; “Frozen Vines” and this year launched “Main Street Magazine.” Main Street began as an Ezine, with thousands hits per day.
This should not be a surprise, her celebrity status and loyal fan following can not seem to get enough of this blonde. Her popularity continues to grow leaps and bounds. In the fall of this year Main Street Magazine goes to print, with rumors’ that she has had world wide requests for copies.
Her name; Tilly Rivers, has been said in jest would make a perfect 'tag word' for anyone seeking website traffic, as her influence and world celebrity status is becoming a house hold word. Maybe she should sell her name to top search engines?
When asked how she will be holding up against the stress of running Rain Enterprises, she was reported as saying “What stress?” Frozen Vines is in the trusting hands of others, my focus is Main Street, which is a love not a stress.”
This award could not have gone to a more deserving person. Rivers surely must have invented “out of the box thinking.”
The secret to her success? Correction, successes? As soon as I find out I will let you know.
Or will I?
